Correlation of Hand Index with Prakriti: A Cross -Sectional Study

Introduction: Based on the measurements of body, constitution and physique an individual can be classified as ectomorph, mesomorph, endomorph body types (somaotypes). Similarly, knowledge anthropometry made applicable in assessment Deha Prakriti, described Ayurveda. Somatometry, a division includes direct surface human by scientific methods. Analysis comparison absolute parts do not give precise idea about typology subject, so it is necessary to work out relevant indices, variation hand index between different groups dominant Prakriti has been observed. Methodology: Two hundred apparently healthy male individuals age 18-40 years were registered from population residing Delhi. study participants was assessed through questionnaire. The length breadth both hands measured digital sliding caliper. calculated percentage hand. difference values statistically analyzed appropriate statistical tests. Result: receiver operating characteristic (ROC) analysis showed value right Vata <= 41.344, 41.344 < Pitta 43.930, Kapha dominant>=43.930, whereas left hand, 41.895, 41.895 43.687, dominant>=43.687. Conclusion: There are significant differences among Prakriti.
